Chapter 33. The Answer

In the grandest chamber of all ant hives of the world, a servant approached the great All-Mother.

"Speak," commanded the queen, "and make present circumstances known to me."

"All-mother, the mysterious irritating air seems to have dispersed."

"Yes, my antennae are no longer burn. Call back the warriors. I anticipate the calculation will be over very soon. Have the scouts returned?"

"Yes, All-mother. They have brought back many artifacts for study. We have never seen the like."

"I do not know what they are either. The pan-mind will sort that out. How about our guests?"

"They recuperate in the southwest antebellum. We have found them in need of repair. Their energy patterns are sharp and jagged."

"Fetch the energy weavers and instruct them to smooth their minds of our guests. When the energy patterns are no longer sharp, we shall release them to the wild. Now step aside, for I see something I have longed to see all my life."

An ant arrived bearing a single oak leaf. On it was imprinted the solution to the problem in five languages: ant pheremones, avian paint blotches, snake scratchings, cat scent script, and a human scribbling known as algebra. The All-mother stroked it with her antennae.

"Elation! At last we have derived the theory that unifies all the forces in nature in one elegant equation. I must confess, it is very different than what I would have expected. Now, child, take this leaf to the clients at once." She exhuded a pheremone of congratulations that permeated the hive and was relayed to all the sub-hives, sub-sub-hives, and sub-sub-sub-hives.
